The public sector does not build worse systems than business does, but it builds under different terms: procured contracts, security requirements that cannot be negotiated away, and maintenance that must last for years after the project closes. That rewards solutions that are understandable and documented rather than clever.
At Kammarkollegiet’s asset management we spent four years as developer and then lead developer: integrations between the CRM and SimCorp Dimension, Agresso as the receiver of master data, and a link to the agency’s directory service to meet the security requirements. At SKL we built a mobile application that gives 400 case officers data on municipalities and their employees in the field, on a microservice architecture with an API gateway over Elasticsearch and an in-house OAuth2 server against Active Directory. For a Norwegian client we ran a two-day workshop-style CRM training for the management team, in Swedish with Norwegian-speaking participants.
